Drummond Woodsum’s Special Education Team addresses the whole host of legal issues that arise when students are truant and miss large amounts of school time. We will address New Hampshire’s truancy law and available court avenues, as well as how student truancy impacts special education child find obligations. And of course, this conference will also review the IEP duties that schools have toward non attending students, including the interplay with New Hampshire’s truancy laws. This is one of the most pressing dilemmas faced by public schools, as student non-attendance continues as a seemingly intractable problem.
