“Paper Tigers,” A Documentary about Adverse Childhood Experiences.

Paper Tigers chronicles a year in the life of Lincoln High School in Walla Walla,

Washington, which has a history of truancy, behavior problems and substance

abuse. With the aid of diary camera footage, the principal follows six students who

are grappling with traumatic events in their lives. The film illustrates how the

principal uses research about the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

to change the schools approach to discipline.

  • Create action items list and include with meeting minutes.
  • Always provide time for professional/personal support, e.g. “clearing.”
  • Communicate faithfully with one another.
  • Assign “parking lot attendant” for each meeting.
